About us

Become a prominent research and innovation gateway for sustainable development and governance, primarily in war-affected communities in Sri Lanka.

Our Brief History:

Founded in 2015 as a research group based in the UK and Sri Lanka, The Gate Institute has a diverse network of researchers, professionals, and practitioners from various disciplines and countries. Through collaborations with think tanks, NGOs, charities, and universities, The Gate organised conferences, seminars, research projects, capacity-building programmes, and workshops to foster social and economic development in war-affected and underserved communities in Sri Lanka. Recognising the need to expand, formalise, and institutionalise our efforts, The Gate Institute was officially registered as a non-profit organisation in the UK in 2022 and Sri Lanka in 2024.
