Technopark inaugurated at Eastern University, Sri Lanka, in collaboration with Gate Institute
A Technopark was inaugurated at Eastern University, Sri Lanka, on 20 September 2024, in collaboration with the Gate Institute, to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the Northern and Eastern regions and other parts of the country.
The Technopark has been established in Eastern University’s Old Medical Faculty building, No. 50, New Kalmunai Road, near Kalladi Bridge in the heart of Batticaloa.
Professor Vallipuram Kanagasingam, Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University, Sri Lanka, presided over the event. Professor Chandana Udawatta, Vice Chairman Professor of the University Grants Commission, attended as Chief Guest at this event. Professor Sanjeewanie Ginigadara, Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University, Sri Lanka, and Professor Arulampalam Atputharajah, Vice Chancellor of Vavuniya University, Sri Lanka, attended as Guest of Honors, and Mrs J.J. Muraleetharan Government Agent of Batticaloa District attended as Special Guest. Mr Jeyaraj Kulasekaram, a founder member and Board member of Gate Institute, also participated in and addressed the gathering.
The primary aim of the Techno Park at Eastern University, Sri Lanka, is to serve as a Technology Business Incubator (TBI). It seeks to foster the growth of appropriate businesses by disseminating technologies to user groups, including budding entrepreneurs and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The overarching goal is to facilitate widespread adoption and support the scaling and development of innovative technologies.
The activities of this Technopark will be expanded in a phased manner with the collaboration of The Gate Institute.
